Shari’s Story

When I started painting with a pallet knife, I found a freedom in painting that I had not known before.

Hello - I’m Shari and I’m so happy you stopped by. I create and paint in my home studio in the beautiful Tennessee town of Franklin. I’m a Southern Ohio native with deep Southern roots and my husband and I embraced the beauty and passion of the South almost 27 years ago when we moved to Tennessee. We started our family here with our two incredible kiddos and a plethora of animals have passed through our home. We love our animals. I’ve traveled the world and love so many places, but the beauty and warmth of Tennessee has my heart and the memories of Ohio always keep me coming back.

I’ve been a creator as long as I can remember. Even back to elementary school at a Young Authors Conference where we wrote our own books and illustrated them to years spent airbrushing and painting t-shirts and parasol umbrellas at Kings Island Amusement Park.. To this day, I continue to write and publish articles and someday I hope to write and illustrate more books. It would be a full circle moment.

I love working with texture and adding paint with a pallet knife. This is how I started and it’s been a progression of style. When I first experimented with a pallet knife, I found a freedom in painting that I had not known before. I’m a loose, expressive painter. I love seeing the painter’s “hand” in the work. When I started experimenting with the pallet knife along with mixed media, and brush work, I found the best way to express myself.

I’m inspired by the beauty in many things. From the grass and fences by the quiet sand dunes, to a single hummingbird and colorful flowers, to beautiful architecture and nature landscapes, each is inspiring.

I’ve been honored to have my work featured on television and in magazines and licensed with Kirklands and Hobby Lobby, but my greatest honor is to work one on one with people to create something that makes them happy. Creating and sharing is inherent to who I am. Art is in my heart and I’m so grateful for the continued opportunity to share it with you.
